Google Chrome Out Of Beta
// December 12th, 2008
Just over three months after launching their browser, Google representatives have confirmed that Google Chrome had a change of status Thursday. Google’s browser is now out of the beta stage and ready for action…for Windows users at least.
Chrome still lacks support for basic features like form autofill, RSS, extensions, and perhaps more crucially, has no official support for the Linux and Mac platforms, but I still suggest giving it a try if you have a Windows machine laying around your house.
If you want to download Chrome, you can get it directly from Google, or if you already have Chrome installed, you can update it by going to Chrome’s About page, and then forcing the update with the dialog box.
For me, being a Linux user, I will be sticking with Firefox until Google can come up with official support for a Linux version and at least implement extensions.

Chrome is a really cool, quick, shiny browser
It does have a few issues, but it’s come a long way since its release.
I believe the sooner Google releases it for Mac OS X and Linux, the better opportunity for success it has. It shall finally beat IE!
I agree it is quick, but at the expense of losing Firefox extensions, form autofill, and RSS, I think your internet activity will be slowed overall.
I do like the look of the browser itself, but it seems rather out of place in a Windows environment. I’m looking forward to the progress of Chrome very much, and will be keeping a close eye on it.
it will be interesting to see if Chrome can get as much market share as Firefox; for now they seem to have leveled off…
